much的用法难点

问题描述

There is much we can do about it. 我们可以做的（事情）有很多。

There is nothing much we can do.  没有什么是我们能够做的。

这里的much为什么不用many？

我们可以做的（事情things）有很多。没有什么事情（things）是我们能够做的。这两个句子里省略的things是可数名词，为什么都用much，可不可以换成many呢？请各位老师帮我解答，谢谢。

There is nothing much we can do.  没有什么是我们能够做的。

当我们表达【许多事】这一概念时，如果不涉及一个复数名词，一个看做单数，否则看做复数：

There is much we can do about it. =Thereare many/ a lot of things (that) we can do about it. 我们可以做的（事情）有很多。

There is nothing much we can do. =There arenot too many things (that) we can do.  没有什么是我们能够做的。

表示“很多事情”可以用 much 或者 many things，但是一般不能单独用 many。
