1. I spent $5000 for a ring.
2. I spent $5000 on a ring.
How much did you spend for that book?
They spent £ 2,000 on [for] a new car.
当“on+动名词”时,人们更偏于用in取代on。
All his spare money was spent on books, on his garden, on drink(他的全部余钱都花在书上、庭院布置上、喝酒上),等等,用on;
但All his spare time was spent in studying Greek, in cultivating his garden(他的全部空余时间都用于研究希腊语、培植自己的花园上),或者说“in the study of Greek, in the cultivation of his garden”,用in。
He spends a lot of money (in) entertaining his friends.
He spends his spare time visiting workers.
spend money on books
spend money in books
spend money for books
1. He spent all his money on new books.
2. How much did you spend for that book?
