predict 和 forecast 是同义词。

1. forecast 通常指对天气、商务、经济方面的“预测”、“预报”。多用于依据推测进行预告的情况，如预报天气等，间或可指通过预感，对未来作把握不大的预测。可以作及物动词，宾语通常是表示事物的名词短语、that-分句或 what-分句。也可以作不及物动词或者名词，意思是“预报”预报。如：

(1) He forecasts a dire future for the industry. 他预测这一行业前景惨淡。

(2) Can you forecast what the outcome of the election will be? 你能预测选举结果吗？

(3) He forecast that the repairs would cost ￡2000, but the actual cost was a lot less. In actual fact it was quite cheap. 他预计修理费要两千英镑，但实际费用却少很多。事实上这是相当便宜的。

2. predict 可以作及物动词，意思是“预料，预计；预报”。指预言有事实根据或合乎自然规律，因此具有科学性、准确性。宾语通常是表示事物的名词短语、that-分句或what-分句。也可以作不及物动词，意思是“作预言”。如：
