请教 There appears to be 的用法

书上在说到动词 appear 用于 there be 句式时举了这样一个 例子：
There appears to have been a big storm recently.
这里用的不是 there appears to have 吗？为什么没有用 there appears to be 呢？

▲你的句子没有错，只不过动词 to be 变成了完成式 to have been。又如：
There appears to have been an accident. 好像出了事故。
▲类似的例子如：
There seems to have been a mistake.  看来一直就有错。
There seems to have been a deliberate silence from the newspapers. 报界似乎故意对此事保持沉默。
▲比较用一般式 to be 的例子：
There appears to be no danger now. 现在似乎没有危险了。
There appears to be something the matter with her. 她好像出了什么事似的。
There appears to be a problem with the oil pressure. 看来是油压出了问题。
There seems to be little enthusiasm for your idea. 人们好像对你的想法不大热心。
There seems to be a vogue for Chinese food at present. 眼下似乎时兴吃中国菜。
There seems to be a mistake in these figures. 这些数字中好像有个错误。
