我曾见过 a large / small / huge / tremendous / significant amount of money.

请问可以说 a big amount of money 吗？

        我觉得英语中不说 a big amount of money.  但可以说 a large amount of  money, 以及问题中列举的其他几种说法。类似的例子：我们可以说 a small amount of money  但不说 a little amount of money.  然而，可以说a big amount 或 a little amount. 例如： I've got a big amount, too. 这些没有什么道理可讲，就是惯用。这正是中国学生学习英语的难点。当然不排除有些文化程度不高的讲英语的人在口语中会说 a big amount of money. 但这不是规范用法。

        我也看了English Expert老师举的一些例句，这些例句都来自有道，爱词霸等中国编的学习软件。很多句子都是Chinglish，并不是地道英语。建议大家多参考权威字典。
