请问在正式的书面写作中，and, but, or, so, because 等连词是否可以放在句子开头？

我在这里举一个口语的例子：

如在日常对话中：

A：Why can't I have a pony?

B：Because I said so.

老师答疑

刘老师：

你这个问题，在“问法”上有点怪。用在句子开头不是很正常吗？

1. Because he is ill, he can’t come to school.  他因为病了不能来上学。

2. And we know what we have to do to solve them.  而且我们知道，为了解决这些问题，我们必须做些什么。

3. But he remembers nothing.  但他什么也不记得。
