▲体育项目垒球术语“一垒，二垒，三垒”，之前不加定冠词。

At first base he led the league 21 times in fielding. 他在一垒防守方面21次位居联盟第一。

He didn't make it past first base. 他未能跑过一垒。

The runner was retired put out at first base. 跑垒者于第一垒上被刺杀出局。

但表示该项目运动员的名词前则加定冠词：

The first baseman made 15 putouts.  一垒手出局了15次。

This is the first baseman, and this is a pitcher.  这是第一个垒手。这是一个投手。

The second baseman sharpened his spikes before every game.  那个二垒守垒员每场比赛前都要磨尖他的鞋钉。
