give sb back sth=give sth. back to sb 有两种意思：

1.（把某物）归还 送还给某人：

Could you give me back my pen? 把钢笔还给我好吗？

Could you give me my pen back? 把钢笔还给我好吗？

I picked it up and gave it back to him. 我把它捡起来还给他了。

(informal) Give it me back!把它还给我!

【注意】如果sth.是代词，不能放在back的后面。

2. 使恢复；使重新获得：

The operation gave him back the use of his legs.手术使他双腿恢复了功能。
