老师上课讲 victory 可数也不可数,这是什么意思呢?不可数使用在什么时候呢?
黎老师:
1. victory 泛指“胜利”、“成功”时,是不可数名词,一般不指明属于谁、战胜谁的胜利,也不指明是什么样的胜利(多用于动词或介词后)。例如:
Victory cannot be predicted yet. 胜负还不能预料。
Each candidate claimed victory in the election. 每个候选人都声称自己在这次选举中获得了胜利。
2. victory 特指“一次或多次胜利”时,是可数名词。例如:
She was very happy when she heard her son had achived (或 won) an easy victory. 当她听说儿子轻而易举地取得胜利时,她非常高兴。
Our team has had two defeats and has gained eight victories. 我队2负8胜。
American victories in the Pacific were won at great cost. 美军在太平洋上的历次胜利是以重大代价赢得的。
