depend后接that从句的用法疑点

老师说 depend 是不及物动词，后面不能接that从句；若接从句，要用depend on。但问题是，书上又说，介词后面不能接that从句啊，所以depend on 后面也不能接that从句吧，是不是？但如果真要接that从句，那又怎么办呢？

▲depend on不能跟that引导的从句，但可以跟wh-word引导的从句。例如：

It all depends on whether she likes the boss or not.   一切都取决于她喜欢还是不喜欢这个老板。

A lot will depend on how she responds to the challenge. 在很大程度上将取决于她对这一难题的反应。

You can't depend on what he says. 他说话没有准头。

Well, that depends on when I get an answer. 嗯，那要看何时得到答复。

▲depend on不能直接跟that引导从句，但可以用形式宾语it代替，然后再跟that从句，例如：

You may depend on it that he will turn up in time. 你可以相信他会及时赶到的。

Can I depend on it that this won't take place again? 我能相信这事不再发生吗?

You may depend on it that she will help you. 你可以相信她会帮助你的。

Yon may depend on it that they will support you. 你相信好了，他们会支持你的。

We can depend on it that he will arrive here on time. 我们可以相信他会准时到这儿。
