表语动词使用什么样的形式

The only other thing I remember doing was trying to make my house look more lived in.

请问老师，是不是主语中有do的什么形式，表语动词就要用相应的形式表达。如主语中有doing，表语就要用-ing形式；主语中有do,表语就要用to do形式。谢谢回答。（上文中的doing不是谓语，那表语也要用trying吗？）

你的理解基本正确。主语the last thing带定语从句I remember doing，表语应为名词性的表语，在动名词和不定式之间选择。表语的动作在逻辑上是remember的宾语，与前面的doing对应。因此表语用动名词。英语中有平行原则，即平行的结构尽量采用相同的形式。

(1)在由What分句、the thing+关系分句以及all+关系分句充当主语，而其中的主动词do为进行体形式时，其后的表语也用动名词。

What I’m doing is teaching him a lesson.

我在做的时间就是给他一个教训

All I’m doing is blazing a trail.

我所做的事情就是开辟道路/在树上作记号指路。

(2)当 the thing+关系分句以及all+关系分句充当主语，而其中的主动词do为一般体形式时，其后的的表语也可以是省略to 的不定式形式。

What you first do is (to省略) mix the egg with flour. 

你先得把鸡蛋和面粉和好。

All I did was (to省略) touch the window, and it broke. 

我只不过碰了一下窗户，玻璃就碎了。
