请看这两个例句，这里的 keep off 表示“使远离”，但 keep away 也表示“远离”，应该怎样区分呢？

1. keep off 可以不接宾语，也可以接宾语。如果不接宾语，keep off 与 keep away 意思相同，均表示“离开；远离”。例如：

2. 当 keep off 后接宾语时，相当于 keep away from。例如：

keep away 中的 away 是副词，keep off 中的 off 既可以用作副词，也可以用作介词。

2. 当 off 用作介词时，keep off 后可接宾语，此时该短语相当于 keep away from。例如：
You keep away from her horses, understand?
I decided to keep away from them.
