be scoured with与be scoured by的区别

问题描述

The sea-bed was scoured with powerful nets and there was tremendous excitement on board when a chest was raised from the bottom.

有人解释说with by不一样,前者表示用……做某事,后者表示由……做某事，这个解释不是很具体呀，能否举例详细说明下。

with 表示用的材料；by 引出动作的施事者。例如：

The house was decorated with beautiful pictures.

The house was decorated by my brother.

【注意】有的句子，可能使用with 和by 都可以。但仍然适合上述解释，这时，用with 强调使用的材料，用by 强调动作的发出者。

曹老师：

I covered the box with sand.

The box was covered by me. by表示动作发出者（即施事者）

The box was covered with sand. with表示所用的工具或材料。
